BC Lions History

The BC Lions open their 71st season in the Canadian Football League (CFL) on Saturday, June 7 at home to the Edmonton Elks. Founded in 1954, the Lions have made ten appearances in the Grey Cup, Canada’s football championship, and have won the cup six times: in 1964, 1985, 1994, 2000, 2006 and 2011. The Lions have claimed the Grey Cup twice on their home turf, including their notable 1994 victory over the former Baltimore Football Club, which prevented a U.S.-based team from hoisting Canadian football’s top prize. Following world class renovations to the stadium, the Lions won another Grey Cup at home in 2011. The Lions logged the CFL’s second-longest streak of playoff appearances, running for 20 consecutive seasons between 1997 and 2016. Throughout the BC Lions’ history, individual players have claimed 14 Most Outstanding Rookie Awards, 11 Most Outstanding Canadian Awards and Most Outstanding Defensive Player Awards apiece, seven Most Outstanding Player Awards, and five Annis Stukus Trophies for the CFL’s Coach of the Year.

  • Lions look rust free

by Gordo on 2025-06-10BC Place - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Snoop Dogg put on a great concert and the lions sent everyone home happy with a 31 to 14 victory over the Edmonton elks Nathan Rouke found his passing game in the second half and shredded the elks defense 👏

  • It was pretty good experience seeing Snoop Dogg perform.

by Kenkanep on 2025-06-10BC Place - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Was good experience listening to Snoop Dogg perform but didn't appreciate the 3 girls in front of us standing spoiling our view, I'd love people to sit in there seats so people from behind can view the performer playing because I come from 7 to 8 hour's drive just to see Snoop Dogg perform.

  • Couldn't see or hear anything

by Kay on 2025-06-10BC Place - VancouverRating: 1 out of 5

Snoop concert stage was tucked back this year. Could not see the stage. No speakers facing behind the stage. You couldn't even hear what song it was. Terrible.

  • Long lines

by Andrea on 2025-06-10BC Place - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Snoop was amazing! Everything I could have hoped for. However the lines to get into the venue and the line for food and beverage was not acceptable. It took almost 40min to get into the stadium and an hour to get food and beverage.

  • BC Place not ready

by Don lawn on 2025-06-10BC Place - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

The concert and the football game were great. BC Place was not ready. Even though they knew 50,000 people were coming, they didn't have enough people on the door. It took an hour to an hour and a half to get in. Also, they ran out of hot dogs before half time. That tells me there is not adequate preparation.

  • awesome

BC Lions team puts on a great show every game. The Snoop Concert was icing on the cake. Love the Lions! Love BC Place! Love the crowd! Great events time & time again.

  • Nice stadium needs improvement

by Wam on 2025-06-10BC Place - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Went for the snoop dogg concert. The stadium itself was so humid and muggy in the halls. Also need more vendors and better food choices. Also why do you take away water fountains. At games when people are drinking it should be safety over profit.
