About

For more than 20 years, Massachusetts melodic hardcore band A Wilhelm Scream have been  rocking out and wowing fans with their punk-revival albums and high-energy live performances.

Formed in the mid-'90s in New Bedford, Massachusetts, A Wilhelm Scream was initially called Smackin' Isaiah, who released two projects under the moniker: The Way to a Girl's Heart Is Through Her Boyfriend's Stomach LP in 2001 and The Champagne of Bands EP on Fork in 2002. Amid a series of lineup changes, the band changed its name to A Wilhelm Scream -- a reference to the famous stock sound effect typically heard in films.

The newly solidified lineup -- with vocalist Nuno Pereira, guitarists Trevor Reilly and Christopher Levesque, bassist Jonathan Teves, and drummer Nicholas Pasquale Angelini -- released their first album, Mute Print, in 2004 via Nitro Records. The quintet toured across the U.S. that year with Much The Same, Break The Silence and Near Miss, as well as some Warped Tour dates.

One year after Mute Print, AWS released a follow-up, Ruiner. Around this time, founding member Teves left the band and was replaced by bassist Curtiss Lopez. The group kicked off their first European tour with Lagwagon and toured with Less Than Jake. Lopez also left the band and was then replaced by former Fullblast bassist Brian J. Robinson. Around this time, AWS released a 7-inch EP, Diver.

In 2007, AWS released their third album, Career Suicide. Shortly before its release, longtime guitarist Chris Levesque announced he was leaving the band, and Mike Supina, formerly of the Detroit band Alucard, became his replacement. AWS toured aggressively in support of Career Suicide, hitting more than 18 different countries.

In 2009, AWS released a 5-song self-titled EP. The following year, they toured with Comeback Kid and released their new studio album, Partycrasher, via No Idea Records. It would be nearly a decade before AWS would release a follow-up to Partycrasher; from 2014 to 2018 the band toured extensively, and from 2019 to 2021, Trevor Reilly worked on building a permanent home studio and rehearsal space for the band.

Guitarist Mike Supina left the band after 10 years in 2018 and was eventually replaced by Senses Fail guitarist Jason Milbank. AWS also played Mute Print and Ruiner anniversary shows with former guitarist Levesque.

After announcing that they had acquired the rights to A Wilhelm Scream's releases with Nitro Records, the band signed to Creator Destructor Records and released their first new song in nearly nine years: "Be One To No One." In April 2022, they released their fifth studio album, Lose Your Delusion, which was recorded in the band's newly built studio and mixed by Paramore producer Kyle Black. • A Wilhelm Scream = Amazing

I can only describe my experience of this show as nothing short of amazing. I am aware that word has been used to describe A Wilhelm Scream a few times for this review, but i assure you that i cannot find any other words fit to describe them. The opening bands were awesome, and AWS definatly put on a show, and the crowd was very into it. I would recommend seeing these guys to anyone who likes their style of punk, or to anyone who likes going crazy at shows and seeing an awesome band with lots of energy and talent. They completely surpassed my expectations, and i left feeling very good about my time at the show.
