About

Despite sharing their name with a northeastern state, the Maine formed in 2007 in Tempe, AZ, a collegiate suburb of Phoenix. Most of the bandmembers -- singer John O'Callaghan, guitarists Kennedy Brock and Jared Monaco, bassist Garrett Nickelsen, and drummer Pat Kirch -- were in high school at the time, and the guys wasted little time turning their '90s radio rock band influences into a familiar, infectious pop-punk sound. The Maine signed to Fearless Records and released a five-song concept EP, The Way We Talk, in 2007. After performing on the Vans Warped Tour one year later, the group issued a full-length debut album, Can't Stop Won't Stop, which was produced by emo-pop veteran Matt Squire. The record peaked at number 40 on the Billboard charts and caught the ear of Warner Bros. Records, who signed the Maine to a major-label contract in 2009. After releasing a deluxe version of Can't Stop Won't Stop later that year, the group returned to the studio, eventually emerging in 2010 with the sophomore album Black & White. ~ Steve Leggett, RoviDespite sharing their name with a northeastern state, the Maine formed in 2007 in Tempe, AZ, a collegiate suburb of Phoenix. • SO MUCH FUN

by Adam on 2023-12-07The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been waiting years to see this band and the live show did not disappoint. So much energy from the band and they had the crowd singing along too. It’s been a while since I’ve been to a show where the crowd was singing along that loud. The Maine is like a well oiled machine you can tell they’ve been doing this for years

  • Best concert ever !

by Nic T on 2023-12-06The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The Maine was an incredible performance. Both their starting artists were incredibly talented and hyped the crowd up. John’s voice was smooth like butter and was excellent and engaging with the crowd. This is one of my favourite bands from my teen years and seeing them has re-sparked my love for them! They were truly amazing!! I can’t wait for the next concert.

  • Not to be dramatic, but I would die for The Maine

What can I say about The Maine? If you're looking for a band that understands your inner soul and can put on a show that makes you feel alive, then look no further than The Maine. Their live performances are full of energy and hearing "Flowers on the Grave" live is a religious experience. I've been a fan of The Maine for a decade and they never disappoint.

  • First of many

My girlfriend turned me on to The Maine and brought me to see them for the first time and hopefully it won’t be the last. The music was great, the energy was great and THEY were so great with the fans after the show, even though the venue’s staff was extremely rude. I hope they return to this area or St. Catharines/Niagara region soon.

  • Watching a Band Called The Maine

by Roanna on 2017-04-29The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen The Maine many times, and their live shows continue to blow me away. The amount of energy and passion in the room is always off the charts - from both the band members, and the crowd. The Maine always puts together a great setlist, featuring songs old and new, which results in some of the loudest singalongs I've ever participated in. While I love screaming "8123 means everything to me" during "We All Roll Along", I was also really excited to hear some stuff off their latest release, Lovely Little Lonely, including their opening song, "Black Butterflies and Deja Vu" (which was fantastic live). In short, The Maine never disappoints. They're such a talented bunch of dudes, and are always genuinely thrilled to be on stage sharing their time and music with their devoted fans.

  • Was there ever any doubt

The Maine is fantastic - i am biased cause I love them, so really no matter what they did and where they played it would be an amazing show. This was certainly just that - hour and half of pure good music. American Candy played in full - the first 9 songs - then a few of their classics - finishing with song 10 another night on mars. It was perfect even if it was hot as hell in there

  • Favourite Band

by Zeddd on 2015-05-10The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

oh my gosh, what can I say, The Maine always delivers and this was no exception. Their songs are amazing and they sound so good live, the atmosphere is just unbelievable and the lead singer, John, knows how to capture the audience with his vocals and words of wisdom lol. The only reason I gave it one less star is because of the opening acts, as it was Knuckle Puck and Real Friends, who are not my scene AT ALL and I could not breathe from being pushed to the front, while there was a mosh happening right behind me. The Technicolors were really good though and got the crowd going. The Maine always meets their fans after their shows, but security was being really restricting and apparently the cops were called, so Toronto did not get a chance to meet them, which was really upsetting.
